Hiyahh! :D

Well i have an BFG 8800gt OC, with a mild overclock to 700/1753/950 :)

Thing is, the noise the fan made and the temps were shocking! Usually sat on the desktop gpu folding away at about 83oC, but i have seen it hit 90odd when in games! And at that point the fan was shockingly noisy, even worse as it seemed it was doing nothing!

The other day i bought a AC Accelero S1 Rev 2 from MM, well i picked it up from the PO on the way to uni :D

Once home i checked temps GPU 83, PCB 54.8 :( Decided to install it straight away, hoping for some difference!

LOOK at the thermal paste on the stock cooler! Seriously it was caked on, cant overly see it exactly from the pic, but you can see there is lots of it! Big slab on the cooler with tons all over the chip too!

I dont think this was helpin much as now i have the Accelero installed and temps are at 51 GPU and 42 PCB full load gpu folding as before! :O And that me using it passive... the additional fan i was trying to use cooling the stock one is off now!

Just thought id point this out... even if it has been before! :) If i had known there was that much paste there, i would have done something about it ages ago!

Yeah the G80s and G92s I had always came caked on with thermal paste. The G80 (8800GTS 640mb) I had was the worst. soooOooOOoo much on there

I couldnt believe it! :( Why do they do it if it can make such a big and bad difference to the temps!

I bet the stupid temps i have been gettin explains why grid crashes all the time!

Too much paste (within reason) is bteer than no paste at all. At least the whole GPU will be transfering heat instead of a small section.
