Bigger box!
Right, I want a PS3, only problem is the horrific expense.
My living arrangement is currently temporary and I'm using a 20 inch standard TV.

I know ideally the PS3 has to be played on HD but will it still look pretty good on the old TV?

Like I say, it's already expensive and I just can't justify buying an HD TV aswell.

Cheers

Im using a 20inch standard tv at the mo, it still looks good i know its going to look as good as an HD one but text is clear enough to read. Only thing is if your tv does not have NTSC capability dont download games from the US store as the few demos ive got are only NTSC. Hope thats a help, dont let not having a HDTV be a reason not to get a PS3. Anyway i got my HDTV (arriving this week i hope) for about 280 thats for a 22" HDMI ready with a 3 year full warranty. Think OCUK sell the older model, this one has a 5mS response time.

As with anything on standard definition TV, get yourself an RGB Scart lead if you can as it'll boost the quality over the standard composite lead by a noticable amount.

Currently playing it on a Big but standard television, And it's fine. Obviously doesn't look as good, But thats to be expected.

As said, Go for it, And buy a HD TV at a later date :)

Aye, it's how I started with my 360. 6 months on a 32" with an advanced SCART lead and I wouldn't have had it the other way round for anyone.

It will look fine on a SD tv. But work out which you want 1st a PS3 or HD tv and which will give you the most enjoyment.

If it's a choice between saving up for an HDTV or saving up for a PS3. Save up for an HDTV first. HD really is the way forward in all areas (gaming, movies, TV broadcasts, etc)

that sounds really silly to me - I don't have sky or cable, just freeview so I don't get TV in HD and if I was in a position to take your advice, I wouldn't have a PS3 or XBox360 - so no HD-DVD or BluRay players to watch HD movies.

Get a PS3 first, games are fun even without being HD.

Gotta agree with that, me not having a HDTV hasnt stopped me enjoying the games on the PS3, i know ive got one on order but if i had to decide i would defo get the PS3 first.

for me there were 2 sensible options

1) Buy PS3 now, save for HDTV
2) Save for HDTV & PS3

an HDTV wouldn't have done me much good at all. and I chose 1) because I'm not very good at saving.

If it were me I'd go for the HDTV first. It's such a waste of it's capabilities playing on an SDTV.
