I would like to create a banner which consists of a selection of images fading into each other.

How would I go about doing this?

Would I need Macromedia Flash, or is there a free program out there what can do it?

Also what is the best format to save as, to place it on a website?

Cheers for any help.

SwishMAX would be ideal for you. Easier than Flash, and fully capable of doing basic effects such as fading transitions.

It it's made in Flash or Swish, then it will need to be saved as .swf

If you want to avoid flash, you can save as an animated GIF. But Flash will be smoother and better quality.

I used to love swish max it really is a cracking little program and fairly easy to use, so good i actually bought a copy a couple of years ago :) - but you can download a free trial and probably be able to do what you want in the time you have.

Cheers, will check that out.

Tried doing it in Windows Movie Maker and kind of got the results - only a huge file size/wrong resolution. Also it seemed to darken the pics?

Anyways, will give SwishMAX a go.

Thanks.
