Could some one post a pic of there F@H running in Windows task manager?

I want to compare the processes with mine.

Thats just what I needed to know how many processes, thanks that saves the bother of posting a pic :)

Btw do know if some frames of a WU can take longer to process than others in the same WU? or should they all be the same.

They should be pretty similar, especially for SMP WUs. Back in the day there were QMD core WUs that would go very slowly in the beginning until the model "converged" and the progress continued at a quicker pace.

Hi thanks for the reply, the WU started of fast and now its crawling the pc is be used for web browsing and mp3 playback will these activities completely deny Fah access to cycles while they are being used?

Browsing and listening to music shouldn't make any appreciable difference at all. What have you got running in the background? Generally a WUs frames should remain constant throughout the whole WU [give or take a few minutes of course]. The only thing that would significantly change frame times is something hogging the CPU.

The easiest way to find it is to go into the Processes Tab in Task Manager and order the processes by how much CPU they are using [click the CPU heading twice and it should put the processes in descending order].

If you notice anything using a fair bit of CPU time [other than FaH] that's your culprit.

No process hogs other than Fah, should fah also be installed as a service? fah.exe is starting automatically is this right? or should I be doing this manually.

If it is the standard client then it is most convenient to have it as a service. This means you can basically ignore it and not have to worry about forgetting to turn it on :D

How are you doing for free memory? Sometimes if I'm using Firefox for a long time it can start hogging a silly amount of RAM which could lead to the client using the disk instead

It was a quicktime player streaming and audio file from a website my other player is winamp. The folding seemed to go pretty well last night, [1am] to now [11am] managed to go from 53% to 70% of WU5061 :) its just taking time and my initial min time frame time left me expecting a fast completion time, but I have learned from another post about vm ware and win xp inabilities compared to linux and am looking to maybe give Vm software a try.

That said are the times I am completing frames in linked to the fact that I use my pc for other activities its just not dedicated to folding? in otherwords should the E6400 be doing better.
