thought I'd ask this here as
a) GH won't think the way you guys do
b) I thought it would be nice to ask you guys first!

ok, as you know my systems have taken a tumble, looks like I'm having 2-3 replaced and the rest I have to go suck for ("so just WHY have you got 6 PCs running at your house?")!

So what I want to know is WHAT SHOULD I BUILD?!

Basicaly, one system is for me (games, downloads, folding) one for mum (office, downloads, folding and maybe some games) and the last is for office spair (folding 99.99% tbh), what kinda systems would you reccomend me speccing up as replacements.

I think I'll get around £750 to spend on each pc (or there abouts) and I boubt that I'll be able to salvage much from these old ones (so don't count anything from these except the cases)

I'm looking for maximum WU output on these rigs tho, so keep that in mind!

So come on you folders, speck me happy!

I would get something like this for your gaming machine. Change the gfx card to a 7600GT for your mum and 7300GS for the folding one and get Geil Ultra Low latency ram instead.
This mobo should let you overclock the conroe over 3.5ghz. These systems would be great for folding :)

I did take some screenshots of the ocuk cart, but I kept changing things so gave up on that. Anyway:

Gaming system:
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB
Scythe Ninja Plus
Zalman VF900-CU Quiet Copper VGA Cooler
Western Digital Raptor 74GB WD740ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB
£1050 inc vat (roughly)

Mum's/office system:
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3
GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC6400 (or 2gb?)
Scythe Ninja Plus
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB
£550 inc vat (roughly)

Change hard drives to fit your needs. Add proper sound card to gaming system if needed. 1gb or 2 for mums/office? Graphics for mums might want changing. No cases/psu though.

Comes to £2150 of your £2250 budget. Pretty good I think :)

nice, but each system needs to be about 750 rather than the total acount.

thats good, can we go for another cooler as I have a hate for Tt and I could do with like 250-300gig hard drive space, I may be able to get £800 for the systems (I may sell whats left of my old PCs)

well I guess you could split the really good stuff for your main machine between the three, so one has the amazing GFX, one has the Raptor and large storage drive, and the third has the 2GB of amazing RAM - then just switch it all around later :p

Lateral thinking there :) , like it.

VeNT, makes more sense to get a proper graphics card and hdd for your main gaming system, and less on the others right? Particularly the spares system, you dont want an X18xx or 7800 in there really. 2GB in gaming and 1GB in the others?

could do, I'm not into having a raptor hard disk tho, I'd rather spend the cash elsewhere.
