I have an Asus GTX480 I bought 2nd hand (I know). I am having problems, when playing wow if I put the settings on ultra it is unplayable. only on low settings it seems to play ok. Same with EQ2 on extreme it doesnt want to know (Temps get to around 70 celcius) now as i type its running at 40.

I have contacted who I bought it from and they are happy to refund me.

This is my setup

M/board Asus M4A79T Deluxe.
AMD Phenon II 965 3.4ghz
Corsair 4gb xms ram.
Corsair 650w HX psu.
Storm scout case.
WD Caviar Black HDD
LG DVD/Combo

I bought this card with the intention of running newer games but how its running wow and EQ2 im not convinced it will. Before i send it back I just wondered if there was something you might see different I could try or wether you agree this card could be faulty.

Thank you

As you have had an AMD card in your system before this is more than likely the cause, your system will prob have leftover AMD files

Download driver cleaner and delete/clean the AMD/ATI files:

Do not delete any Nvdia driver files as this can make things worse for your current Nvdia drivers

If all else fails i would 100% reinstall windows again from scratch and see if this makes any difference,i personally always have done this when switching from AMD to Nvida or vice versa

Thanks for your replies. I have tried both Windows generic and Nvidias drivers the latest and the last lot.

I did have an AMD card but all ATI files are deleted.

Im 99% its not the rest of my system but you never know.

I have ran CPUZ but where is the sensors page?

Format to be sure i've had this many times over the years now i change cards to much i use SSD for OS so i can reinstall in 15 mins.:)

I do have an AMD CPU, would there be drivers for this too?

Ok I removed all ati drivers (was suprised how many were left) still not 100% I guess a format and clean install will have to be the case (I hope this works)

Thank you for your replies. Did gpuz show you anything?

Thank you for your input. I did reinstall windows and have to say the card is running a treat (shame to go to such extreme) what was causing it to run awfull I dont know but all is good now.
