Bah, failed emissions test on my 2001/51k Octy vRS yesterday

It failed on the 2nd fast idle test - CO% vol - limit 0.30 mine was 0.92. The lambda reading though throughout all tests was 0.98 which seems ok. HC was 0. Natural idle was ok with CO% being 0.18.

The guy mentioned first I should clean the sensors? Any thoughts and is this a common issue?

Everything else was ok, HC ppm, the first fast idle test came out at 0.85 instead of 0.92 as above.

The engine has been remapped but this was done before the test last year and passed with no issues.

Any ideas?

Cheers folks.

Clean which exactly?

I cant fathom out whats wrong as the engines as sweet as a nut. I know theres some issue though as the temp guage can drop a little now and again so will get the temp sensor and themostat swapped too.

I heard that too, I will swap it over and see how that goes.

My temp guage does drop a bit sometimes after opening the taps say 15-20 mins after driving.

Shouldnt the guage go the other way if the pump is problematic?

It was changed in Dec 2006 with the cambelt and associated gubbins by Skoda themselves.

Check which colour coolant sensor you have, if its black its the ones that are known to go bad, if its green odds are its ok.

I would say something is getting into the engine either pre of post combustion (oil) which is causing the readings to be high, just like mine, noticed it was burning some oil, only just passed the test, now i have a leaking turbo bearing, remaps suck, however K04 ere i come ;)

I think mines the black one!
