Hello,

Flashed the BIOS last night on my HTPC board, seemed to work fine with checksums and all that gubbins but when it rebooted it booted into the Award BIOS recovery screen and attempted to recover the BIOS via the DualBIOS safety feature... bit scary, but all well and good I guess...

...until it rebooted again into a cycle of 100% fan spin for 10 seconds, power down then restart into the fan cycle.

I'm pretty sure that's porked a good 'un, but just in case I'm missing something any suggestions? Have tried the obvious CMOS clear, battery removal, ram removal (in case it didn't like the 4x 1gb modules at default volts) and working backwards from the CPU/memory only installed.

I've ordered a new board and quad so I can get back to Fallout 3, but would be handy if I could fix this to recoup the cost.

Cheers in advance chaps.

Yep, that's what I was thinking. It doesn't try to seek the floppy on boot, so it looks like the BIOS boot block has had it as well.

BIOS chip is soldered on to the board, so won't be able to replace that easily either.

To top it all off the board I bought to replace it doesn't support 4x1gb modules, and doesn't support CPU voltage changes... think that's getting RMA'd too!
