Mrs Tosno took her theory test today but failed the question part (33 out of 50) which came as a surprise since she got 99 out of 100 on the .gov practice site, she said the actual test questions were nothing like the practice ones, some answers looked very similar to each other "calm traffic" "smooth traffic" (English is not her first language) Is there a better site to practice on with the same or similar questions?

Have a look at the "Driving Test Success" site. They do a fairly good range of PC/DVD's aimed at the learner driver. I'd put the link in but I'm not sure whether admin like it?

They do a "The Ultimate Learner Driver Theory Test Pack" - PC Download, which is supposed to be reasonable. I think it's on offer at the moment £19.99 or have a look on Ebay.

Is it this one? I know she can pass for sure if I can explain to her for example what a catalytic converter is which popped up in todays test. (Why she needs to know about it to drive safely I have no idea)

When I took mine I practised using the Driving test success DVD from the rainforest. The exact questions came up I think I passed 49/50

Get 'Theory Test UK 2015 DTS', I paid the £1.50 fee and practiced 1hr every day, 30 min to/from work for a week and passed first time.

As above, use the DVD which literally had every single question the test could give on it. If you run through every question the day before you can memorise the 5% of awkward questions, the remaining 95% are common sense. Doesn't really need much effort, just run through the entire thing 1 day before to get comfortable with them and you can ace them.

This

I bought the app for my phone and did a mock test a few times per day, within a few days I went from 70-80% of answers correct to consistently getting 99 and 100%

It has a graph to show your progress over time ,you can also practice all the questions in certain sections you may feel are your weakest and any questions you get incorrect it will give the correct answer and a brief description which helps with understanding and not just memorising the correct results for the test.

I got 49/50 on my real test

I ended up buying DTS 2015 all tests. Mrs Tosno has 2 weeks to practice now until next available place.

Wise choice, but don't think that other questions wont come up. I found even buying all the books and dvds for the truck theory test there were 4 or 5 questions that were worded differently or were just totally not in any of the reference materials.

When I did my theory test, it was full of relevant questions, like "identify the danger" or "which sign means no entry" now its about what is a catalytic converter?

Its 1/4 just about the environment, 1/4 paramedic training, 1/4 strange questions to make you fail and 1/4 relevant.
