Failed to connect to EA Online - BF:BC2

I'm having some problems with BC2 (Steam). I can play online during the day time but once the sun goes down I can't load the server list or play any games. I keep getting the message "Failed to connect to EA Online"

I've forwarded the correct ports, I've made sure my firewall isn't blocking anything and I've manually updated PB. I went into my firewall and looked for anything that could be related to BC2. The only program I could find was GameSpy Comrade so I unblocked that too. I've tried logging out of my account and then logging back in, I've used Steam to verify my game files and I've turned off the overlay.

I've repeatedly tried populating the server browser lists on both BC2 and BC Vietnam. Either the loading window spins and spins or I get told that I've failed to connect to EA Online.

It works fine during the daytime but after about 6pm it just gives up. I can only assume it has something to do with more traffic in the evenings but if that was the case then surely this would effect more people.

Has anyone got any idea what might be going wrong?

I'm with BT. I'm using a BT Home Hub 2. I've forwarded all the ports recommended by Steam and I've even tried disabling my router's firewall. I've also tried using a wired connection (ethernet). It still won't connect in the evenings.

I'll try that in the morning.

Everything else works. I can use firefox, I can play other steam games online, it's just BC2 that's having problems.

I am having a similar problem. I can join a game but after 4 mins lose connection 'connection to ea server was reset' have opened all the recommended ports switched off the firewall and tried alsorts of random advice found through google but none of it works. Not played BC2 in over 6 months. Would have liked to play the dlc but dare not waste my cash due to this. Makes me worry if I buy BF3 will I get the same problems.
