Failed updates

I have 4 updates that fail:

Service pack 1 (I'm on Windows 7 by the way), it comes with failed installation.

I have 3 other important updates that fail.

I will provide any details you need when requested.

Thanks in Advance!

Well two things to do:

1. If windows 7 sp1 is failing to install.... try a clean install of windows and download sp1 as a standalone install from Microsoft website.

2. If your pc is unstable bsod's etc... then you have a hardware issue or drivers...

I installed a few updates this morning, and I haven't seen a BSOD since, luckily. I just went AFK for about 20 mins, and my computer didn't restart. Although, if it happens again, it's probably that faulty RAM I have.

As for SP1, I might try a clean install, but I have a few files I would like to keep, so that will be last resort. (I do have an additional hard drive, but it has very little space for my files.)
And for standalone, on it's own:
I will try it anyway, but it probably won't work.

what are the failure messages on the service pack?

so far im 2 for 2 for issues pushing SP1 out to our clients at work, one has a timeout error and the other has a critical error.

Exact quote from the installer, this is the same one on both:
A system error prevented the system pack from installing. Please download and run the "Check for system readiness" tool at -link-

I ran it, and re-ran the installer.
Still nothing.

As a note I've also had this on my sisters comp, my dads and now mine (I've not had Internet for 3 weeks) must admit I assumed it was MS who'd cocked up but I see others have installed successfully
There's no way all 3 computers should be failing, also got the readiness message iirc

Yeah, mine also is an Intel.

Very weird.

In other news, due to those updates, my BSODs are no more!

EDIT:
YES!
Downloading the non-service pack 1 updates standalone work (All but one)!
Just hope after that service pack 1 works!
-crosses fingers-

EDIT 2:
Still no Service Pack 1 ;-;

Yep still no joy, Ive run the repairer, done everything windows says to do basically and keeps failing, its only 82.7mb but it takes a long time to download too, it seems to pause for a while at around 18-19% before continuing up steadily then at end fails

Edit: In fact just as I wrote this it installed, weird
Failed, clicked help, troubleshoot, etc it said repairing (again) reattempted (no 67 prob, lol) and it worked, magically
So just keep plugging away, seems glitchy is all I can think

Okay, I'll use the system readiness tool repeatedly until I reach the level of readiness that fixed it, as it did yours, once I return to my PC.

look forward too seeing if you get this figured out, my pc had sp1 listed in its update list and updated no problems, but my laptop hasnt got it in its update list and will not update no matter what i do.

been going all over the place at MS downloading things left right and centre as i go from link too link but nothing works, still comes back with "install failed check system readiness tool" :(.
