Failing Intel BUrn Test Instantly

" This is an extremely stressful program that will
put even the most powerful X86/X64 CPU in the world at its knees. Load temp under Linpack will be up to 22*C higher than the competing software Prime95."

Is your CPU overclocked? Even on stock volts you might be getting higher temps than you think. Judging from the description of this thing it's pretty intensive on the CPU, so if there is anything wrong with your hardware, I'd start there, have you run any other programs, such as Prime 95? or Orthos?

edit. Just read it also tests your RAM, so CPU or RAM is faulty, if it's not just you've got an unstable overclock

Is your system overclocked?
Is it a bsod or just wrong calculations?
Check temps like said it really produces a lot more heat than any other stress test.

More info is needed to help.

Sorry - vague post! From another post I've made:

Here's the time line of events:

6 months ago - CPU @ 3.2 prime stable

Tried Intel Burn Test - Only stable at 2.8

At Christmas added an XFX RAID card - will no longer hold overclock - same WITHOUT the RAID card

Tried IBT at stock and it fails instantly

Any tips? I'd rather NOT have to replace anything but if I do I want to be certain of what the issue is.

Have you tried the ubiquitous clrcmos yet?
maybe you havent completely cleared all your old OC settings and something you forgot to change is causing the instability

He's not overclocking anymore. Tbh it sounds similar to what was happening with my E8400 on a Gigabyte DS4, where my old overclock was just too much and hindered any more overclocking in the future. Even .2 GHz more rendered it unstable, it's plausible your previous overclock, though not that high, caused damage? Perhaps you were overvolting the system somewhere :/ From your timeline it's all I can suggest. Hope you manage to sort it buddy

Ah yeah sorry never noticed the line after fitting raid that he tried IBT @ stock. My advice is try what 95thrifles says and clear the cmos completely incase there is anything left behind from previous overclocking attempts.

Also what are your temps like because running IBT sky rockets cpu temps straight away.

Edit: Also was it failing with miss calculations on IBT or just going to a BSOD?
