Hi, we have suffered a leeking pipe which of all the ceiling space has dripped on to my laptop keyboard.
This was friday morning, it was plugged in but not on running, i thought i would leave it until now to perhaps dry out before attempting to boot up, well it doesn't.
Now like most people i havent backed up for a while, what are the chances, and can this be done, of removing the hard drive putting in another machine and attempting to get to the data, and is it likely that the machine can be repaired at all anyway?

are there any other likely solutions?

thanks in advance for any advice.

If that doesnt work, its usually only a case of removing a couple screws on the back next to a cylinder icon and it should slide right out, then just conenct it to another PC to get at your data.
How long have you left it to dry?

If you need the data of the hdd, just buy a 2.5" external caddy and fit your hdd into it.

Also do you have a light on the external psu? Does it stay lit when you plug it into the laptop?

What does the laptop do when you try to power it up? leds etc..

thnx for caddy idea, thats great, then use a portable hdd, can that be done? I will look! lol
external psu as far as can remember light stay on yes
no lights or anything from laptop, dead as a dead thing

if laptop not powering try stripping down to m/board and wash with IPA and leave to dry in open air not in airring cupboard , there will be a 10 % chance it will recover, if it dosent its BER
