Giving a details on the reliability of various components.

These are numbers reported by a particular online reseller for components sold in France by during the period of november 2009 to april 2010, for returns before october 2010.

So basically, things that are DOA or failing shortly after. Always take statistics with a pinch of salt, nonetheless, it's an interesting read (if you understand French or can put up with Google Translator).

I'm basically shocked at the relatively high failure rates. imo it seems such a waste in the first place. It's not to the advantage of anybody to have defective components being returned shortly after they are sold. I wonder what OcUK stats are on that front, and would highlight a problem at the source, at the reseller, or at the shipping companies (the usual scapegoat).

I used to think failure rates were pretty good, but after 2 dead mobo's and a bad stick of ram, I've come to realise it must be quite high.

or I have bad luck........

High failure rates shortly after coming into service normally indicates poor quality control or incompetent end users. Sadly I cant read French, so that's all I have to add. See Bathtub curve.
