I seem to have a problem with a new build computer.
The issue is that occasionally when the power button is pressed, it will not begin any kind of powering up.
On some close inspection the power LED has time to flash on before it all ges dead. Presumably it's using power from a capacitor that gets rapidly drained because no proper power supply kicks in.
It will start after that only if the power supply is turned off, the computer power button is pressed, wait a bit, turn on the power supply again and try the computer power button again.
These are the specs:
Coolermaster M620
Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-US2H 760G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard
Phenom II 555 unlocked to tri-core but not OC
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
5450 gcard
Seemed OK when I put it together. But after handing it over to the users I ended up being told repeatedly that it was failing to turn on occasionally. Sometimes all day (worked again after being "reset" as above).
Suspected the PSU so ordered and installed a OCUK "Battle" 450W (Powercool).
Turned it off, went for lunch, came back and it fails to start correctly.
In case that was a one off I then spent some time turning the computer on, shutting it down, waiting a few minutes then attempting to turn it on again.
After half a dozen tries, instead of powering up it flashed the power LED and went dead as was happening before. Again requiring a "reset" as above.
Motherboard looks next in line for the blame.
Any further thoughts or should I just take the suspicion of a faulty mobo to webnotes.
