Fake a 2nd Monitor

Is it possible to make Windows XP think there are 2 monitors installed with only 1 actually installed. Graphics card has 1 output?

At work certain software requires 2 monitors

you could try telling it that a tv is connected...dunno if it would work for you though

They do sell VGA dummies, you can also make them too. Unfortunately I can't help you further with either. Try the graphics card or distributed computing forum.

Won't help with only one output though.

Maybe some kind of virtual desktop would satisfy the software requirement?

surely if its software you are required to use as part of your job that won't work unless there are two monitors then work would provide you with two monitors?

If not, don't use the software and if things kick off explain why.

Our work Dells only have one output from the gfx card, however they all came with cables that split allowing you to connect and use 2 monitors.
