Fake i7 cpu's

Now if they were selling these for a couple of quid they'd make an ace prank for pulling on friends! "My machine won't start! Can you help me out?". Little do they know you've swapped their i7 for a piece of cardboard :)

And thats where their story dalls down!

And surely counterfit'ers aren't THAT stupid as to not copy it word for word . . . ?
I mean seriously, come on! Yes, I have the skills and the equipment and the money to make fakes, but haveb;t got the brain power to do a perfect job.

I'm over-volting to 240v through mains with no heatsink! Still pretty cool, just trying to get 1mhz so I can put the multiplier way up.

Does anyone know if these have unlocked multipliers?

Looks like the fan is a cd sticker, that would be so rage..

edit:

"After investigating the issue internally it appears one of our long term partners mistakenly shipped a small number of demo boxes instead of functional units."

Good call on the demo boxes..

It is possible to be fair. All the manufacturers produce this kind of junk especially for big retailers that put things on show. We could get similar things from Intel if we asked but since we're mainly an e-tailer it's a bit pointless.

We've had dummy memory, graphics cards, hard drives and all sorts in the past. Someone even pinched the dummy Lacie "Lego" drive when we were at the Imex...shame it was nothing more than a paperweight.:D

I remember seeing that. Didnt you also have a dummy Raptor X and some dummy OCZ RAM?

Why include a blank manual? What display purpose does that serve? I know most POS stuff looks the part on the outside, but why have some stapled bits of paper inside? And the typos, definately sketch imo.

Why are they being threatened, The supplier sold counterfeits, either they were switched in the factory or they did it delibrately, any which way they are at fault.

It doesn't even look the part on the outside, did you see the text on the back of the box? They have never been demo boxes.

Probably just trying to save face and/or cover the story up, obviously they don't know that Intel have come out and said their fakes so it appears Hardocp's position is bomb proof.
