So are they just faking the packaging and reselling cheaper OEM processors as retail? I've heard about this kind of thing before?
Can't see they'd be faking the processors themselves as sure it's all but impossible to copy such a complex thing?
They are completely fake, not even working parts, just what looks to be fibreglass moulds with printouts on them to make them "look" real!
So it turns out they were display boxes not actual counterfeits.![]()
But they surely usually have "For Display Purposes Only" on them, or "Not for Resale"?It is possible to be fair. All the manufacturers produce this kind of junk especially for big retailers that put things on show. We could get similar things from Intel if we asked but since we're mainly an e-tailer it's a bit pointless.
We've had dummy memory, graphics cards, hard drives and all sorts in the past. Someone even pinched the dummy Lacie "Lego" drive when we were at the Imex...shame it was nothing more than a paperweight.![]()
