Was wondering if my latest memory card is not genuine or there is some other reason for the slow transfer speeds

i believe either it is fake or i am topping out my card reader speed

i get 20MB/s on a 95MB/s card
that 20MB/s is both read and right

this is the same rate i get from my 30MB/s sandisk

anyone with this card can tell me what i should be getting with sequential writing?

Looking at this it does point to my reader maxing out at 20MB/s

Would have to try it in a few different devices to know for sure - for instance on my Windows 8 tablet the read/writes are limited to 19MB/s :( due to poor FW support. (~19-20MB/s is a common limit on devices where the SD card support is pretty much an after thought).

First check your computer has a USB 3 port and then get a USB 3 reader :P

Ah yeah, good point well made :p

EDIT: You can get a USB controller card for between £10-20, OCUK sell them. That and a USB 3.0 reader are well worth the investment if using large memory cards, USB2 just doesn't cut it these days. Note that, whilst you can get cards with sockets on the backplate, if your case is modern enough to have front-panel USB 3 sockets but your mobo is lacking then you can get controller cards which connect to the internal cable which is neater :)

The other obvious way of checking is just sticking it in your camera (depending on the model of course) and holding the shutter down while shooting RAW and see how long it takes to fill the buffer.

I notice a considerable difference between the Sandisk Extreme and Extreme Pro so it should be quite plain to see.

Yep think it's due to the USB card reader. I just thought USB 2 was faster than that!
It's from a respected reseller. As in I have bought from before with no problems. But this is my first pro card

Need a USB 3 reader!

Need a USB 3 reader!

Also need to check if you've got USB 3 ports :P

May also need a USB 3 extension cable or something. I have USB 3 ports but they're at the rear of the PC so I've run a USB 3 cable extension to the top of the desk where the card reader can connect with its short cable.

Yeah since I have a z87x board I think all the rears are usb3 and yeah will probably need an extension. The pc is probably too far without one
