Hello, I recently purchased a GTX titan black second hand and received it today however I am a bit concerned. The Titan black TITAN lettering is not black and nor is the heatsink. It looks like the original titan. In windows it identifies it as a Titan black with the correct GPUZ settings. ( GPU Clock 889, 2880 Unified Shaders ). Is it possible its a GTX titan that has been flashed to a GTX Titan black ?

A few benchmarks should give you an idea if its performing properly - a few of the cheaper brands seem to be basically titan coolers with the black pcb/core.

As above check GPU-Z. Display devices should show it as Titan Black too. The shroud doesn't have black lettering IIRC. It looks identical

Hi sorry i have never really linked pics before ( maybe years ago ). Just signed up with image shack. The Gtx Titan I have is one in the upper pic.

The image he intended to post:

I would definitely run some benchmarks. There is enough people on these forums that someone will be able to run a control benchmark to compare with.

It is possible that the seller had both a titan and titan black and swapped the coolers around. Purposefully or not.

Imageshack never seems to work. I much prefer imgur as it is simple and functional. You don't even need an account to upload.

Hi, Have done my first benchmark ever. Yeah I know Ive never bothered to benchmark in the past. I used firestrike DX11 on steam demo. Here are my scores. Is it good or bad ?

SCORE
9991 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan Black(1x) and Intel Core i7-3770K Processor
Graphics Score 11472
Physics Score 11604
Combined Score 4592

Is a Titan Black, that is alright.

But go to your BIOS settings and activate PCI-e 3.0. Is running at PCI-e 1.1 the poor thing.

Btw how much you bought it for?

Its running at PCI E 3 now - it downclocks it when not in use - idle I think

I paid £470 inc delivery

Ok that will teach me a lesson to be more thorough and not to examine my graphics card upside down in a dark environment. When I first received the Titan I assumed it would say Titan Black and glow or something. It didnt what I expected so I put it in convinced I had been conned. I just shut the PC down and took the graphics card out and it is indeed black lettering on the Titan.

I feel like a class one muppet but I would like to thank all of you as you have all been so helpful. One of the things I love about the OCUK community.

Your sincerely ( a Muppet )
