I found out that my PC is running an invalid version of windows xp pro 32bit, and i require a legit copy to upgrade to windows 7 64bit.... i was planning on using software for students as it costs £38 however it says:

"The Versions of windows 7 for sale on software4students are upgrade editions only. you must have a current valid windows operating system licensed to your PC to perform a clean install using these editions"

Any idea of what i can do???

any help is appreciated

(titles wrong btw, should be Fake Windows XP)

The £99.99 one is retail so if you ever upgraded your computer or replaced it, you could transfer the Windows licence to the new machine. With the OEM version the licence gets tied to the motherboard, so legally can't be reused in the future. Hence the price difference.

whats the difference from oem and the other one

Full version or a retail version can be transferred between computers. It can only be installed on one at a time, but you can delete it and install somewhere else.

The oem is tied the computer you install it on (the motherboard if i remember right) so it cannot (legally?) be transferred. Atleast its against the EULA.
