Fallout 2 win 7 problem.

So reinstalled this again , and when i load up i get messed up colours (mostly during cut scenes) just random abstract colours.

Figured it was because it's an ancient game, so in compatibility set the options to win 98, and limit to 256 colours, which fixes it for most people but it doesn't work

Any way i can force it though Cat control centre?

ingame it's mostly ok just a few little bits of it, but it ruins cut scenes.

a different way you could play it would be via a VM? - say stick win98 on it,
that should play it alright, and as its an old game shouldnt have slow down with running in VM.

when i tried playing fallout2 awhile ago, i had the same problems as you did, i 'fixed' it with that method..

What Win 7 have you got? If you have Pro try using VXPM.

ah hah!

Installed the restoration mod (comes with high res +sfall gfx mods)

So i just set it to use 16 bit colour in the new menu works fine now

Also runs at 1920x1200 ress

the restoration mod is very good, lots of new (well actually old) content that was cut etc due to the publishers demands on the devs
