Hey,

finally got round to playing this, really liking it so far.
Are there any essential mods that I should grab?
More quests? Equips? HD textures/skins?

also is it worth grabbing the addons for this?

i also would like to know, restarted last week after losing my saves and only now starting to play, any essential mods like OOO in oblivion as any texture pack ie Quarls?

I played it through on the standard version with no problems.

I'd personally recommend doing that before delving into mods and patches and potentially ruining the story line which is really good.

The first time I played it I couldn't get into it - not sure why - but then the second time playing it (after hearing how damned good it was) I started to get into it and then just blitzed it as I found it an excellent game.

Play though on the standard version then get the downloadable content.

I've been playing vanilla FO3 and it seems OK to me (I suspect it's one of those things where ignorance is bliss!).

That said some of the indoor environments look fairly poor for a modern game, very weak on the textures front (bearing in mind I'm not a graphics snob by any stretch of the imagination).

No doubt many people choose to use gameplay mods to fix 'annoyances' they have with the game but I'm always a bit skeptical of doing that in terms of how it affects the balance of the game. e.g. stuff like increasing carry limit, changing levelling, repair tweaks, adjusting item drops etc is all a no-no in my book. I had to trek for ages through a subway system (about 1hr maybe?) until I finally came to a tradesman I could offload my loot onto, it was frustrating yes, but that was a choice I had to make rather than discarding a lot of valuable items.

the weapon mod kit one.

lets you ad silencers/full atuto/extended mags to guns. changed the model of them too is simply amazing

can be found on falloutnexus.

:)

There are quite a few good texture packs on Fallout3nexus (or Falloutnexus, one of the two).

I'm not messing around with gameplay mods though until I finish it, since like Oblivion you don't notice things you would like improving on as easily on the first play through.
