I got two copies of this from Sainsburys for £2.99 the other day. Now I have installed this on my pc with mod manager and it is running fine.

My boy's pc does not have a cd drive and my only spare is an ide one so it won't fit on his mobo.

This may be a dumb question, so forgive if it is, but is it possible to copy my fallout folder to usb, and stick it on his pc?

What alternatives do I have?

Depends if the game writes anything to the registry, just try it. Best bet is to make an ISO of the second disc, stick that on a USB stick then copy it to your boys PC. Then mount the iso with D-tools then you can install it as per normal then use his key for GFWL.

USB DVD drives are really cheap though so might be worth getting one anyway for future games.

Copy the folder & get a nodvd patch from somewhere as the launcher is protected so needs the DVD in the drive if you want to change the game config settings.

Otherwise the GFWL DVD version does not have any other DRM it even launches without the DVD in the drive from the default game exe file just type the correct GFWL serial number on your sons PC when GFWL asks for it onscreen.
