I've been playing Fallout 3 for about a year now and it has always worked fine but today it is constantly crashing and i have no idea why. I have always played it on medium/high settings (i edited most settings myself), with a res of 1920x1080 on a BFG GTX 280 OC, Q6600, 4gb RAM, etc. and it has always been fine.

The things i have tried to stop ot crashing:
using all the lower settings including the lowest video settings possible
restarting my PC
upping the fan speed on my 280
disabling my 2nd monitor
downloading the latest patches.

Non of these have worked :(

Any ideas of what else i can do. I hope my graphics card isn't on it's way out, although with it being BFG the customer service should be great :D

Thanks in advance,

Flare

I found that if I got a crash the savegame is somehow corrupted, by loading an older save everything was fine again.

Something in the game world might be doing something that it should not be doing, I think getting inside a building, waiting for 3 or 4 days (ingame :D) resets quite a lot of things outside, there might be mods to help purge things too if that is the case. This is for a crash-to-desktop issue though, if you are actually locking up, then it is probably hardware issue :( Mods are normally culprits for F3 crashes however, if you are using them, try turning them off systematically.

My experience: The game is less stable following some of the patches, and is also highly sensitive to cpu/memory overclocks. Make sure your cpu is running at stock for starters.

I probably worded it wrong but the game just freezes. My Q6600 is at stock, i haven't actually updated my graphics cards drivers for a whiel but surely that wouldn't cause it to suddenly go FUBAR now? I only downloaded the new patches since it started crashing so it can't be the patches.
