fallout 3, new vegas or skyrim, which is best?

Can't comment on Skrim as I haven't played it. Out of Fallout 3 and New Vegas though it's Fallout 3 anyday. I hated NV and just gave up on it. It was just more of the same thing over and over.

It was a different game entirely, with much better writing, new mechanics and better gunplay (though still not great) and probably the best quest system and dialogue ever created imo. No other RPG has the depth in quests that New Vegas has. It is criminally underrated.

I know it is a debate that goes on a lot, but I can't believe people who think FO3 is better than New Vegas...It is like an amateur mod in comparison!

Prefer NV over the rest, FO3 was great but NV was much better imo. Skyrim was good fun, but I just prefer the setting and genre of the Fallout Series. If another non-mmo elder scrolls came out I'd still play it!

FO3 > Skyrim > NV , New vegas is just a buggy mess in my opinion, I'm just trying another play through of it now and its beginning to get frustrating!

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that Fallout 3 came first and blew people's socks off and then New Vegas came and was largely more of the same.

I'm not knocking it, I enjoyed it. In fact I went back to it after reading some of your advice on mods. Only for an hour or so though due to ridiculous backlog of stuff I've never actually played. This debate is tempting me back though I must say!

I loved Skyrim at the time but I have to say I, dare I say it, just got a bit bored with it. I think it had a lot of interesting places to see, but the NPCs.... just seemed a bit flat for 2010s gaming. The civil war felt a bit flat, and places didn't feel changed by its conclusion barring a different face on the throne. Great scenery though.

Anyway of the 3 I would say.... New Vegas, I think it helped that Obsidian worked on it, it just had a bit of character and style. The different factions were interesting too, and I loved Yes Man.

I have put the most hours into Skyrim, so I guess that means it's my favourite - but I will admit a lot of those hours probably involved testing out different mods. I do think I enjoy playing it more than the Fallout series, but only marginally so.

Just play them all :D

I couldn't say which one is best but I have the most hours on Skyrim, even though I don't play it that often I do like to go back for hours at a time.

Skyrim by far.

But then I hate the varying shades of beige/grey/brown that usually accompany post apocalyptic sandboxes - it's insanely boring to play in.

Skyrim's landscape ia beautiful, and with mods downright stunning.

I've never played NV, but I enjoyed both Skyrim and F3 equally tbh. Go with whichever setting you'd rather play in. But play all of them :p

Fallout 3 for me by a mile. I did quite a bit of NV (about 60 hours I think) but never really got into it as daft as that sounds. I only did about 10 hours of skyrim and always meant to go back to it.

I envy you having all these games to play for the first time.

I remember first leaving vault 101 in FO3.... One of my favourite gaming experiences. Genuine "I have no idea what's going on".

Walking down the mountain Path from Helgen in Skyrim and how beautiful the graphics are as the valley opens to Riverwood.

Actually.... I can't think of an equivilant moment in New Vegas, even though it's a great Fallout game.... so NV comes after FO3 and Skyrim in my rankings

Yes, yes, yes, absolutely yes. Leaving that vault is also one of my gaming moments of all time, amongst few. Been into gaming (as a kid) since BBC Micro. Excellent release into an interesting and open world. Fallout 3. Superb.

I've put over 1000 hours into both Skyrim and NV and a few hundred into FO3.
I'd have to call it a tie between Skyrim and NV though, both amazing games.

Its a mixed reaction from me: I prefered the storyline & gameplay in Fallout 3 & FNV but hated the game engine. Yes I know: the games are that good that graphics & eye candy are secondary but Im sorry I found the graphics an immersion killer many times. Although I must say HD mods and atmospheric mods really improved things to immense levels in Fallout 3. I too remember leaving 101 and going "wow"

Its the other way round with Skyrim. I found the storyline really boring and ended up modding the heck out of the game until it pretty much turned into a very realistic hiking simulator. But it was at that point that I realized how good Fallout 3/ FNV would have looked using Skyrims engine.

Look forward to Fallout 4....
