fallout 3 ps3 lockups..

Ive got a 60gb console and just got fallout 3 but since ive left the vault all i get is lock ups and it properly locks the system have to flip the switch..

all you can hear is the drive trying to read disc over and over (disc is new)

Ive heard some people suffer from one or two lockups but this is unplayable..

anyone know how to fix it? or if they are working on a fix? :confused:

all my other games work fine

They just released a patch which is supposed to fix lock-ups and add trophies. Have you got that?

yeah it downloaded a patch when i first put the game in last night. Must be the same one as the game has trophies.

looks like its luck of the draw

from the little ive played it seems good.. but i dont think i can live with random lockups every 5-10 mins.. maybe my 60gb just dont like it :/ or its showing up a fault with my drive.

Have you tried playing it whilst signed out of the PlayStation Network? That might be causing an issue.

You could try deleting all the game data (not your saves though) and then fire the game up again, let it do the install (if there is one) and then download the patch again?

the locks up the patch fixed was for when you get a notification of someone logging in or out of psn.

tbh Consoles used to be so simple. it would seem they aint anymore :rolleyes:

Every other game ive got / tired works fine yet this one just wont. ill be staying away from this dev team in future tbh.

take the disc back and get it swapped, plus it could be a sign your laser is getting weak its a common thing so far on 60gigs.

Nothing wrong with PS3 mate, friends got it on his PS3 and he thinks its got worse since the patch.

Right it is a problem with the console. Just opened my xmas tombraider played for 30mins and lock up. im thinking its the laser as games installed to hdd seem to be working fine. its out of warranty now 21/09/07

still gonna try sony see what they say. trust it to happen at xmas when ive got time off of work and time to play! ggrrr

Small update to this. Called Sony care today had a nice little talk to the guy on the phone and they are replacing the console free of charge on the 2/1/09. Really helpful and straight to the point. Didnt have to argue my point or anything.. Just said we will send out a free refurbed machine. Just got to take my 320gb hdd out (hope them screws come out ok lol)
