I played nearly all of Fallout 3 before i could get Live working so I missed mostly if not all achievements. Is there anyway of post updating these or is it replay?

I moved the savefiles into the live directory but when logging in to live, it didn't recognise any progress of achievements.

AFAIK, The achievements must be completed while you are signed into live. If you save at regular intevals and don't overright your saves, then you should be able to load a save game just prior to each achievement and get them that way, but TBH you would be probably be better off starting with a new character.

This is what I've been doing.. Just wondered if there was a quicker way.

Er... pardon my ignorance but why bother with achievements? Kind of pointless aren't they?

No not really.. I think they bring an extra element to a game. The problem is with PC gaming is that it's inconsistent. Some games do, some games don't, Some are Steam and other are GFWL so forth.

I'm up to level 10 now, is it worth getting Broken Steel & Point Lookout now or wait a while ?

Yes but play Broken Steel when you finish the main game as it follows through nicely. You can install these anytime really.. doesn't make any difference. The BS and the XP cap of 20 won't be raised to 30 until you have completed the main quest.

My main advice for this game is explore everywhere on foot and find as many locations as you can. Get the side quests out of the way and embark on the main quest when your at level 15/16 say. That said, you can finish off any side quest from the main game in broken steel but beware, the enemies become much harder and only appear in BS. Albino Scorpions and Mutant Overlords for example are not easy. So I think it best to get these out of the way sooner and build those experience points.

Use the Swift Learner perk too. This increases your skills early and unlocks future perks.

Play with positive Karma and create save games before level 8, 14, 20 and 30. You can grab additional achievements for completing these with good, negative and bad karma so you can replay the "level up" for each. It's a bit difficult to do this if you are on anything less than good Karma!
