i've been playing vanilla FO3 for about 50 hours still got half the main quest to do, a few scattered miscelanious quests and 3 DLC's and already at level 28 is there a level cap removal tool or something so i can still work toward something.

i already completed the game on my ps3 and finished it at level 14 i just find on the pc i like to go exploring a lot more cause it looks a damn site better and runs better

Work towards something? Seriously are you not godlike enough already by lvl28? This is an RPG after all. At lvl30 on vanilla its possible to have max on almost every skill, taking Almost Perfect you can get 10 on all SPECIALs and have more than enough perks to be overpowered.

And are you using FWE? Since it has the setting to increase exp requirements to 2x and 2.66x (default).

FWE? whats that

i've never modded fallout 3 so instead of makinng my level cap higher should i make the game harder.(already playing on hard)

and i have no idea how to do these mods on the fallout nexus site where do i start?? Some bullet points on how to do it would be gr8

Unlocking the level cap will make this game easier and possibly ruin the game.

There's still plenty to achieve in the game in terms of completing quests and exploring, the level grind isn't the main objective of the game, the exploration is.

Whats to know?

Unzip to Fallout 3/Data, activate in FOMM and make sure you have FOSE installed, profit. The FWE page on Nexus links to just about everything extra you need to make any mod run. Just follow the install instructions, most are self-explanatory given the file names.

The level cap won't do anything. Playing on Very Hard the game stops progressing around low 20s (24 seems to spring to mind when everything stops scaling up, but its likely to be much lower than that). I believe tier 3 enemies (Overlords, etc) start appearing at lvl14ish so it won't get much harder from then on.

Now if you'll excuse me, i have to try and get my Energy Weapons dude around 4 groups of 5-7 Raiders without getting into a firefight i can't possibly win at lvl4. I really need to check my EVE installation and re-do it some time. Plasma Grenades now look awesome when they detonate, unfortunately they also crash the game immediately no matter how far away i am.

Definitely agree with finding ways to make it more difficult/interesting.

I too am playing Vanilla Fallout 3 and I am also level 28. There is absolutely nothing in the game that poses any kind of threat to me whatsoever. Well, I suppose there's the Behemoths, but I plan to very shortly kill the remaining 4! I also have one DLC left to play - Point Lookout.

Unfortunately for me it's going to be months and months away before I will bother playing through again with mods! I should probably mod first, but then I wouldn't know if I was really making things better or not! :p

This is the exact reason i decided to play vanilla FO3 first.

My aim was to mod after completing it fully but by that time i think i will have had enough or fallout new vegas will be out.

heres hoping they scale new vegas better and make it so you really have to think before spending your points and perks

Yeah, I was worried when I first started playing FO3, thinking I should have opted for different skills/tagged skills etc. But by around level 15+ I started to realise I would be maxing most, if not all my skills by level 30. At 28 all the skills I want are pretty much 85+. Sneak, Lockpick, Small Guns, Energy Weapons, Medicine are all 100.

I thought the level cap for vanilla fo3 was 20?

Apparently there's a hardcore mode in New Vegas that sounds like it'll make the game about as realistic (or as hard) as FWE does for Fallout 3. Obviously we won't know how good this mode will be (or compares) until the game's out, but it seems somewhat promising so far (or from what I've read, at least).

Unlikely, it'll probably be down to mods again. On the bright side its possible to *really* alter the skills on FO3 FWE down to 3 + 1 per 3Int if you really wanted.

The whole 'tagging' system is worthless in vanilla. Seriously an extra 10 points and no difference? It hardly matters and the 4th 'Tag' perk is just as useless really. Thankgod FWE changes it to make it +10 and points in that skill are worth 2, would really make the difference if you were playing with lower skill points on how you choose.

It is, Broken Steel increased it and ignored the balance. The old lvl20 superperks don't need to a real decision, you can now get all of them, the majority of the new perks from 21-29 are pretty poor so you just have to continue picking up all the decent old ones you couldn't get before and the new lvl30 super perks only really have 1 choice. Raise all stats to 9 or pick Nuclear Anomoly, a skill that sounds awesome but is so bugged its unusable.

I played this game for ages on xbox in 2 player co op and had a great time. I find in single player though it is so boring! You just wonder round huge expanses of land doing pointless small missions! I dont see the point in the game really not enough action for me. Began to feel like a chore when i was on my own. Great with friends as you can chat whilst you play. Anyone else had this issue...

i was thinking of getting that perk what exactly is wrong with it?

Well aside from the fact the perk will kill any companion nearby and if you get hit by something hard (like a Tri-Beam Laser) or anything strong with lower DR you'll be killed without hitting the threshold... it will sometimes kill you too. Whether it was fixed or not with the Unofficial Patch i dunno but theres really no need to take it anyway.

Dane... its called "This game isn't for you", its not bad, its not boring, its just not for you.
