Hey all,

Been having lots of crashes while trying to play Fallout 4, sometimes just the game crashing and sometimes I have to restart the system by the power button.

I've had a look in the Event Viewer and I have this:

So far I've run memtest to check the RAM, ran it to two passes as I noticed that I've been getting warnings from Windows that I'm low on RAM despite there being 2GB still free. Temps on CPU and GPU are fine. I've removed OCs from both as well.

Any thoughts / advice?

Thanks

Currently I have a 500MB Page File. Should I try increasing this?

Seems strange if it is the problem as I've got 20 hours played on my current save before this issue turned up.

System spec?
This error has been noted since around 2010, is your operating system up to date? Do you not let Windows set your page file?
Andi.

Had/have a similar issue with Fallout 4. The screen would freeze and you couldn't switch out of the application. Only a restart would fix the issue. I recently upgraded to a 380 from 6850. I get the same error in the event viewer.

Full Spec:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 4.0 Ghz. Reverted to 3.2 Stock to test.
8GB (4x2GB) Kingston HyperX Blue 1333 Mhz
MSI 870-C45 700 Chipset Motherboard
MSI HD7950 Boost 3GB. Reset to Stock to test, driving 1920x1080.
Sandisk X110 SSD + WD Blue 500GB
CoolerMaster Silent Pro M700 PSU.

I initially disabled my page file as it was taking up around 6GB on my SSD at one point. Re-Enabled it because system shock 2 of all games didn't like it, read on a few forums that having a 500mb page file is enough to keep windows and apps happy. Will reset it and test.

Do you get crashes playing on low-mid settings which is where your system would sit I would think? or are you trying to max it out past its capabilities?

1) Let Windows manage swap file
2) Make sure you have at least 1GB free space on your OS drive (after selecting Windows managed pagefile)
3) How old is your PSU and what make is it?

Windows is now managing my page file, I was initially running Fallout at Medium / High for the first 20 hours, have tried medium and low presets with the same result. My PSU is a CoolerMaster Silent Pro M700 and it's around four years old I believe. Bought on the sale OCUK had for the Royal Wedding.

Just checked your PSU. is it a bronze rated 700w? Could well be that like oracle says, if you get a new one get minimum Gold rated. 700w is plenty for a single card but the bronze and age may be causing or pointing to the issues. Hope you get it sorted mate.

I put the system under load and nothing seems to have come up, the PSU is this one: http://www.coolermaster.com/service/support/model/RS-700-AMBA-D3/ I know that 700W is overkill for mine but at the time it was priced rather well so gave myself headroom that I never used.

Ran a few other games as well with no issue. Tomb Raider on Ultra, The Witcher 3 on Medium brought up nothing. Could it be a bad stick of RAM even though Memtest passed twice? Letting it go longer could potentially show up issues?
