Fallout - never played where do you start?

Hi all,

After never playing a fallout game and wanting a new open world rpg experience

Is their a particular fallout you would suggest over the rest?

Fallout 3 -> DLC -> New Vegas -> Fallout 4 -> DLC

There is about 600 hours there!

quick note, do all the fallout have expression less NPC's like in Fallout 3? (just watched a video or two and conversation all seem robotic?)
