When I launch NV and try to load a saved game I get as far as the loading screen then the game seems to just hang there. The roulette wheel at the bottom of the screen keeps turning and the hints keep refreshing but the game doesn't load. Task Manager says that NV has stopped responding.

I've tried loading the autosave as well as some of my other saves. I've also tried verifying the game files and restarting steam. I'm running no mods and I've done nothing to edit any of my game files/saved games.

I'm running an MSI GX660R, W7 64-bit, 6GB DDR3, ATI 5870.

Hello, I had the same problem and I found a work-around.

It doesn't fix the problem, but it let's you avoid the issue.

Simply start the game.
Then select "new game"
You can then skip all the opening stuff
Once the screen goes white (where you're waking up in the doctor's house) hit 'esc' then load your previous saved games

It worked for me and I hope it works for you
I run the game on steam and here are my specs...if it helps at all:

HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @2.00GHz (8CPUs)
8192MB of RAM
Graphics: Radeon(TM) HD 6770M

Not sure if you'd need anything else really. I hope I haven't answered this too late since it was posted some time ago.

I also have this problem.

You know when it will load when the roulette pauses once or twice. If it keeps spinning without stopping ever then its not gonna load. I usually switch to task manager, kill the process and try to reload. Usually good to go next time.

It doesn't do it with every load, I've no idea the actual cause. FNVHelps suggestion can also work.
