Hey guys, just started playing the pc version after 100+ hours on the 360, i was going to wait to get the pc version until the GOTY edition comes out but couldn't resist a little modding action :D

there wasn't much about mods on the main threat so i thought i would start one, the aim of this thread is to inform and assist those of us that like the game and want more :) with the game less than 2 weeks old (well 3 for the yanks) there are already 100's of mods with many more in the pipeline things can get a little confusing and the Bethesda forums are a little uncivilised at times.... just like the wastes lol

So what you running? thinking about dipping your toes in the waters of modding? or are you working on a mod and would like to let the good folk of OCUKF know

i'll start things off :)
i'm running only a few mods to start with as i don't want to overload it and take away from the stock game much

all the following mods are from the Fallout NV nexus

the first thing you will need is New Vegas mod sorter a great little tool for sorting your mod load order and also makes installing and removing mods easy as pie

first off i'm using the d3d9.dll most of you from the other thread already know about it but for those that don't it makes the game run better, not much more i can say about it it just works so if your having problems running the game smooth then give it a try, there is 2 versions 1 for Nvidia and one for AMD i'm using he custom AMD version and works a treat :)

next up i hate the fact getting somewhere to stash your stuff early on without using victors shack is a pain so i'm using Goodsprings Home nice little home to start with complete with all mod cons lol and plenty of storage

i'm also using a weight mod as i hate going backward and forwards to drop all me loot off :) so here's the better strong back mod it's basicly a replacement for the strong back perk and has 4 different versions ranging from 100 to 1000lb instead of 50 for the stock version it's also available around level 4/6 can't remember

also in my load order is MTUI it optimises the UI for higher res screens and cuts on scrolling in menu's and speech boxes

and last up for now an old favourite from Fallout 3 Pipboy_Readius there is a little problem with this mod here's a pic to show you

and
FalloutNV2010-11-0323-24-34-26.jpg

but i'm sure it will get fixed soon and it does look way cool in use

well that's all for now so if you have found a great mod and would like to share it post a link and let the rest of us know what you've found also if you need any help i will be on hand as much as possible and i'm sure there are other fallout 3 mod fans around here that can help :)

I have the item sorter - makes surfing through the inventory much easier. Also have a couple of visual mods - Fellout NV and URWL.
I'll have to give the item sorter a try with the amount of gear i lug around i think that will be very handy, any chance you could post a link to make things easier for all :) i remember fellout from fallout 3 and it done a great job and will be grabbing it for NV soon

Hmmm, I just started a second run through (already found lots of new stufff - and I put 35 hours into my first run!) - I might need to investigate these mods to make it more interesting (as if being a thieving murdering dog isn't enough of a change :D).

I had the same with fallout 3 there's always something you've missed the first couple of time through, take a look through the New Vegas Nexus there are around 500 mods already out with new one's coming almost every day, just remember to start slow with only a few mods and build up from there and also use the mod manager in the first post to install and uninstall the mods

1500+ files and counting on the nexus

been trying a few more out so here's a couple more I'm currently running :)
Bobbleheads there's 2 versions hidden and well not lol also adds a display stand to lucky 38

Gun Runners Expanded Chet has some competition now :) adds new gun runners stores across the wasteland including goodsprings

Ammo Ingredients as Loot
a simple little mod that adds ammo parts to bins and containers across the wasteland

Better Casinos increases the winning cap and maximum bet for all casinos. Each casino has its own unique maximum bet and winning limit set to it

with more to follow when i find the time, anyway 17+ hours in and finding things to be very stable (fingers crossed) not one CTD not that i'm complaining :D but for those that are having problems there is a patch made by modders that seems to work quite well, not tried it myself but may help some of you that are having problems

anyway off to test some more mods, guys if you find a good mod please post a link in your post :)

just a quick reminder for those adding mods to an existing game, after loading go somewhere like without NPC's like victors shack and wait 3-4 days in game for the mods to start working

thanks Neil there's some great looking mods mate i will have to give most of them a try when i get the time I've been trying get some playtime all day and things just keep stopping me :(

it's been a while since my last update but i have quite busy lately, i've managed to get a little game time and also a little time to try new mods

this pic shows a couple of the mods i've been using Unlimited Companions and NCR Black Ops Stealth Armor

me and my crew doing a spot of shopping @ Mick and Ralfs
FalloutNV2010-11-1323-32-49-27.jpg

the NCR armour is a little overpowered but it looks cool and has no NCR or other faction tags

Better Casinos
up's the betting limit ect, it varies depending on the casino with the ultra lux having the highest bet and payout :)

i've also tried **** as i was a big fan of the fallout 3 version, unfortunatly i had a few problems with it (i think it might be because i started using it about 30 hours in and not with a fresh game) so i'll give it another try when i start a new one hopefully by then there will be a newer version out by then

there's also a new (official) FOMM that works great and as an added bonus it works with Fallout 3 and New Vegas

and last but not least for this update the new and improved Official Pipboy Readius - New Vegas Edition it needs FOSE (fallout script extender) and removes all the problems there is with the old one from the OP

also seems the official patch has caused a few problems with the game so i would say if your still running the unpatched game i would stick for a while most of the bugs that are fixed in the patch are also fixed by the modders without causing the CTDs that the official patch has caused this is much the same as what happened with fallout 3 when it first come out, thank god for the modders lol

anyway thats all folks i will add more when i get time to play and all :) there are now 2204  total files and counting on the nexus so check them out and if you find a cool one let the rest of us know :)

Why not just use a trainer :/ would be a simpler way to cheat.
Hey dude no cheating going on here :) just removing some things that get on my boobies :p, having played over 1000 hours on fallout 3 and going on 400 hours on new vegas so have experienced pretty much everything i can in the game i just like not having to run back to base every 5 mins as i'm a massive hoarder or having to repair armor after a couple of cazador hits drives me crazy.

mods just add a little spice and like all things in life every things better spiced up LOL

Well I just don't like having useless items in my inventory

Quest Items - Non-Essential and Categorised give this a try m8, i haven't tried that quest while running this mod but should do the trick as it lets you drop or sell quest items
