Yes.. I took him to the "others" (not sure why you don't want to mention what faction it is, but I'll play along!)

It goes pretty much exactly the same way, except that he gets an upgraded weapon instead. So, either improved armour or an improved weapon.

And yes, ED-E is a great pack-mule :D And he doesn't do enough damage to steal your kills either. Veronica is very effective in combat if you give her a good 'punching' weapon, but she has an annoying habit of running right into your line of fire!
 
Might be a silly question but when your at the re-loading bench what does "Break down" mean. Does it mean break the current type of bullet down to make another?

Also, what does it mean by convert from one power cell to another?

And finally, I'm pretty much picking up everything but not sure what is useful and what isn't. In FO3 I pretty much winged it on the useful vs tat collecting but would prefer to have a bit more knowledge on my tat collection.

You break them down into their component parts, which can then be turned into new bullets. Eg, you can break down 9mm bullets, and use the lead, powder and primers to make 10mm bullets (assuming you've got the 10mm cases needed).

With energy weapons it's more simple. There's only 3 types of ammo, and each can be converted into each other.

apparently if you do his quest and turn subtitles on he will narrate part of the ending in beeps :p

Am wondering this as Veronica is stuck at level 12 - was handy early on, but she now dies far to easily and quickly (am a bit lame and not upgraded her armour though).

I know there's a mod out there to sort it out, but...meh.
 
I didn't realise that companions could level up...

You need to give that dyke some armour though ASAP :p Or give her some pre-war formal wear, and watch her go crazy!

There are a few hanging around... Most you will need to do something for before they will join you. In Primm there is a robot called ED-E - to get him you only need to find a few components. At the 188 trading station there is an enthusiastic young lady called veronica, who will simply ask you if she can tag along.

Could do with some tips against ghouls. Really struggle to kill them at the moment.

Don't forget Cass in Mojave Outpost and Boone (a sniper) in Novac. I know there are other's, but not found them yet. You can have one human companion, and one non-human.

Yep, there are plenty of others (Lilly in the supermutant retreat, Raul up in black mountain, Rex at the King's), but Veronica will join you without needed anything in return, and ED-E only needs a couple of conductors and some scrap metal / electronics to get going. Both are also in easy-to-find locations, so they're perhaps the simplest companions to get going with.

Was a reference to a quest from Fallout 3, or the fact that humans see ghouls as zombies :p I didn't realise glowing ones were more vulnerable in the torso though?
 
Without trudging through the zillion posts in this thread, has anyone else experienced problem when launching the game, from steam works, shortcut etc...

Same happens when you close the game.. In both cases i get Application failure?

I sometimes experience this when I try to launch the game. I just restart my computer and it's normally fine. I'm experiencing more bugs later on in the game and especially around the strip. Is this common? Still, I've been lucky as floating grass is the one bug I come across most often.
 
Dont know if any of you have tried any of the superb mods for the game but you can get them here. some amazing work and its always being added to.

make sure to backup files before anything overwrites, just in case. had no problems but its best to be safe.

just about to play through the game for the second time, this time im going darkside by beating chet in goodsprings to death with a pool cue :)
 
Good little link there, DisrupTor75, might have a look a little later.

On a different note, got some Infamy against NCR for completing The Kings quests - I had to kill a load of NCR people even though I tried my best to settle it with Speech (they were 100% hostile, couldn't change them round!).

But I did also get Rexxie a new Brain; he has now become my companion and seems a lot happier :)
