Don't usually select hardcore kind of modes as it can suck fun out the game but if you want all the achievements looks like it's a must, whose playing hardcore mode and do you think it's a good addition to the game?

hunger and dehydration, visit doctors for more serious injuries, limits the amount of ammo carried,Stimpacks won't heal instantly not sure if theres more.

i'll probably play it on normal first, then play the hardcore mode. seems like it could add to the game. it will certainly make it more challenging. i did find fallout3 a bit easy if im honest.

Sounds a wee bit like the Wanderer's Edition mod for Fallout 3 only not quite as hardcore. Vanilla Fallout 3 was quite easy so the hardcore mode will hopefully provide a better challenge and going up against the Deathclaws will be that bit scarier. No doubt it won't be hardcore enough for some though and there'll be mods to make it even more challenging.

I used a mod on the pc version of fallout 3 that made it more realistic / challenging like lowering how much you could carry, making food not heal but you had to eat, that sort of thing. Can't remember what it was called but it really added to the game so this seems like a good addition.

Ahh just noticed Antar mentioned the Wanderer's mod, that might have been it.

I'll still play on normal first though to get a feel for the game without getting killed every 3 seconds.

Will probably play it on normal and then hardcore later if I'm going for the achievements.

Never tried this wanderer mod, but it sounds like fun. Fallout 3 was quite easy

WIth a game like Fallout, I don't think I could be bothered to play through first on normal then start again on a hardcore difficulty.

Might try it on hardcore first if its going to offer a real survival experience.

It depends how much ammo weighs you down, I'd rather have fun playing the game rather than having to deal with super mutants with 6 bullets and a nuka cola :)

Those achievements just make me want the game more!

I'm fairly sure I saw a Vid noting you could turn hardcore off on the fly (Could be wrong don't remember link) and if that's the case I see no harm in starting with it on and just turning it off if it gets too much.

Will no doubt do it on normal first as I will sink a lot of time into it exploring (62 Hours on Fallout 3 and still not finished) then hardcore for the achievement as the story will no doubt be quite quick to blast through!

Jcb33.

Normal first and then a Hardcore run no doubt.

Be good if you could play with Hardcore rules but Normal difficulty enemies.

Fallout 3 was a bit too easy towards the end. I think I ended up with a hoard of about 600 stimpaks. :)

I think I'll start on hardcore mode and drop it down if it takes all of the fun out of the game.

Assuming it's inspired by the wanderer's mod, it doesn't weigh you down that much..... it just prevents you from carrying craploads for every type of weapon. Stuff like rockets and fatboys weigh a lot, forcing you to specialise more: If you want to use them, then you've gotta make your character strong enough to carry enough around.

I'll make two saves, one for normal and one for hardcore. I'm still undecided on the platform although I'm leaning heavily toward PC given the performance of Fallout 3 and the expansions on Playstation 3.

hardcore for sure! at the end of FO3 i had far too much ammo and stim packs, i loved the start of the game where ammo was scarce and stimpacks were rare made it much more enjoyable!
