im thinking of getting fallout 1&2

are they any good? I know there quite old but that doesnt matter.

Do I need any patches? Can i import my charachter from f1 to f2?

Yes its awsome as a game, get the fallout 2 children patch from the link above, so you can actually complete some missions ( and get a joke about the childless european fallout 2 ), other than that the games themself are very replayable, dont expect to see it all first time round.

how do i reload my gun?
Wheres the waterchip
any advice for a total noob? i'm a bit lost but I like the idea so far.

Right-click the gun icon at the bottom of the screen until the lettering changes to display 'reload', then left-click, IIRC. I think you can also hold down the right mouse button over the gun in your inventory screen. Doesn't the manual explain this anyway?

The waterchip is in a machine powering water for some people you meet later in the game. You have to either persuade or kill them to get it. This is quite a bit into the game, although you're only about half-way through once you retrieve the chip! I would focus on getting some money, companions and completing the quests you find in the places you come across before worrying too much about the chip though: you should be fine so long as you don't waste too much time resting for days or wandering the wastelands.

One final tip: you will be able to buy more water supplies for your vault at the Hub. Do not do this unless time is very short indeed. This will make the game more difficult to complete once you eventually do find a chip.

Mine didnt come with a manual :( ITs just the 2 games in dual cases wrapped togethor in some flippy floppy cardboard that says fallout double pack and has some blurb about the games. It might have a pdf manual on the cd though.

In my Radioactive pack with the two RPGs and Tactics in it there were manuals on the pdf. Worth a read since the interface is pretty clunky and unintuitive compared to nowadays' games.

Slightly off-topic, but was anyone as excited as I was by the Fallout 3 teaser videos? My only reservations about the upcoming game are the lack of a car to drive and ability to kill anyone, even children (not that I ever did...but it was nice to know the freedom to do so was there).
