Ok so im sat at the dinner table, all my computer bits are upstairs im almost ready for my first build WC. So the discussion arises where they think im going to be drawing power from the depths of hell to power this thing, just because once i said "everything to the max".

Now one comment was to get an electrician to test my s*** once im done incase of a fire and home insurance stuff, and i was like (which i guess was right) "no everything is taken from the power supply" and trying to compare mine to the "normal" family computer.

How can i explain to them that i want it WC just to take away more heat and that just because im generating more heat that somehow i will be using loads of electric.

I have a 1000 w PSU , will be running a normal ATX motherboard , 1 TB HDD maybe more later on. a Pump and normal s***.

So i guess the question is will i be using more or equal to the same power of the "normal" computer.

All depends on the specs of the machines and what power saving features they have. Best thing to do is head down to B&Q or similar and pick up a wall-plug electricity meter for a fiver, then you'll know exactly how much power each machine draws.

The only real way is to purchase an energy monitor and run your pc on fulll load and check how many watts you are pulling.
Bear in mind the PSU will only draw the power it needs.
Can you list your full spec of your pc and any overclocks yor hopeing to do.

Edit out the swearing, you may get suspended if a mod sees.

why did you feel you needed a 1KWatt PSU? - they often take a little power just sitting there doing nothing , not much but a few watts (Correct me if I'm talking rubbish here)

That system shouldn't be using anything near 1000Watts - anywhere!

But i do plan on adding another GPU in sli and maybe another loop and some some cold cathodes..still too much power ?

probably not - couple of fans isn't going to be using much. I would have thought a pump would have to use more to keep the water moving well? (I don't water cool so I'm guessin)
