Hi all,

any vauxhall astra owners here? - family member has a vauxhall astra 2014 model, i believe there is buttons on the dash or the wheel for having hands free phone capabilities, although i believe like some vehicles just because there is a button doesn't mean it has a bluetooth module fitted, trying to find out if it does.

If there is no bluetooth capabilities but something can be retrofitted, anyone know if its a pain to do? iv have read online you may have to change the stereo or install a module and have something programmed?

I think they want the ability to have hands free so they can tether to phone and also play music through bluetooth, not quite sure.

I dont know about Aux, i would have to check, my BMW has an aux which i plug in to my phone, but that just outputs sound from the phone to the stereo and i use it for music only, i dont think you would be able to make calls from your phone

I have had a post on the astra forums and they suggest bluetooth module (but the guy said he wouldnt know how to retrofit it)

i think the part numbers they mentioned are either

22942239
or

22829144

the first one is some sort of audio amplifier module, the second one being a bluetooth module.

Thanks i am going to possibly get them to check if their astra has an aux port in the first instance and look at something like above , i dont really want to be swapping round head units with aftermarkets if i can help it :)

what about one of these you can fit it to the dash run the power and aux lead and you would gain bluetooth calling plus android auto or apple carplay and its cheaper than replacing the entire headunit, I would advise getting a ground loop isolator though as you would probably get static between the power cable and aux lead.

Thanks can certainly suggest it

If anyone in the meantime has fitter the actual Bluetooth module in theirs let me know as they said they want it coming through the stereo menu. Which sounds like you have to buy the module and a new head unit

Small revival on this thread as im now looking to buy one of the small powered / aux based bluetooth adaptors,

ideally as i said it would better for this to be powered, so it doesnt run on batteries and require re-charging,

Whats the best up to £20 or £25 bluetooth adaptor you can plug in to a power source (IE cig lighter/ combined maybe with aux) to give you hands free phone tethering in your car and also maybe stream music ?

There are lots of different ones, not sure what is cheap and will break and what is decent
