All of a sudden, the family PC won't boot. The fans all spin and the HDD is going but the system does not beep and there is no signal to the monitor.

It is a pre-built Tiny something or other that has had a cpu replaced in the past but I don't know anything about the parts in the machine as I never payed much attention to it.

Any ideas as to what could be wrong?

sounds like either the mobo or cpu has gone. As thegoonden says try reseating everything that can be reseated. Possibly the psu too? try to rule some things out.

OK, I've removed:

HDD
Sound Card
Network Card
1 stick 512MB

Tried and got the POST beep. Will add the two PCI cards and HDD now and if that works, try the other RAM stick again.

Could be a flaky PSU, a loose connection (PCI/RAM) or a mobo on the way out. I'd take a backup, then grab a voltmeter and test your internal power lines.
