I’ve not built a PC in ages and I’ve spent today slowly adding bits and pieces. I’m using the Jonsbo N5 NAS case. I’ve got a load of fans for the top area where my motherboard is situated which will all be plugged into the motherboard.

The only bit I’m not to sure on is the two drive bay fans. I’ll explain how I have them connected and I was hoping you lovely people could reassure me everything is ok?

I have two Noctua NF-A12x25 4pin PWM fans that will be replacing the stock 3 pin Jonsbo Fans

The fans are powered from the drive bay pcb, which has two 3pin headers. The fan cables don’t quite reach the pcb fan headers so I’ve used two Noctua NA-EC1 4 pin extension cables to reach the headers.

So is it ok to connect my 4 pin fan to a 4 pin extension and then connect that to the 3 pin header on the pcb?

Thank you

The extensions are fine
But putting 4 pin on 3 pin headers
Means no pwm control
Would have to check bios or motherboard manual
To make sure voltage control is supported
And if so whether you will have to
Manually enable that option in the bios
Depends on the board some can automatically detect pwm
Or voltage control
