Sorry for the noob questions, but I've got to defer to experience on this one (apologies if it's a little waffley - need bed)

I'm trying to make it as quiet (whilst maintaining decent temperatures) as possible for now.

Setup wise I've currently got a Corsair Obsidian 900D with stock fans, Corsair H100i CPU cooler & stock reference coolers on my titans

The long term goal is to build a dual loop water cooled setup (e.g. a couple of big 480mm rads etc...), however bank account currently says no, so in the interim I was thinking of getting the fans for now - however as these will be part of the future build I don't necessarily have a problem spending money on them now.

Generally speaking are the stock fans any good? as I'm finding them to be a little "whiny"

I tried replacing the stock 140mm with a Noctua NF-A14FLX, but found it to worse than the stock fan (although it may be faulty as it needed "persuading" to start)

What I was thinking was to replace all the current fans:

  • 1 x 140mm Fan (at the rear)
  • 4 x "Focused Flow" Fans (to fit the h100i in a push/pull config)
  • 3 x 120mm Fans (at the front)

Is it a good idea to buy Focused flow or am I being suckered in by a marketing gimmick?

Are Noctua fans any good or are there better ones out there? (not too bothered about colour for now as can be dyed/painted later)

Sorry for the essay
