Hey guys recently have been trying to push my overclock a little further than 3.6 GHz aiming for around the 4 GHz mark. Current prime load temps are in the low 50's. I tried pushing it to 3.8Ghz, with the side panel off max temp was 59C/60C as soon as i put the side panel back on temps where up to around 63C/64C which is over the 62C max, with no headroom to try and get 4Ghz. So I was wondering if there was anything I can do to my current fan setup, or is my CPU cooler just not up to the job?

The case has an extra 120/140 fan bay at the top currently has padding over it, same for the side of the case. Would moving one of my front 120mm intakes and adding it on the CPU heatsink in a push pull configuration help the temps much?

The case fans are Fractal 140mm 600rpm and 120mm 1000rpm with an Akasa viper on the cooler.
So would moving the fans in another configuration improve the temps basically? :)

With that setup I would consider removing the HDD rack all together and put your HDD in the top bays, also would swap the CPU cooler round so the flow is going straight out the rear back fan and you could also put an extra fan on the CPU cooler for push pull

I wouldnt move the front fan anywhere tbh your better off just buying another fan to add to your case, you would deffinatly notice the increase in temps if you remove a fan from the front.

Just had a look inside, the only way to take the HDD rack out is to cut it off which I don’t really want to do, also the cooler cannot be rotated as on the AMD the cpu mount is a rectangle not square =/

Putting an extra viper on my HS (same as yours) cut 2 - 3 degs off the CPU under load (Prime95 for 2 hours) so it may help you achieve 4Ghz.

62c max? I let my i7 hit 80 under prime, nothing gets near to prime temps anyway, is there a 62c limit with AMD or something?

Yep 62C max, rated by AMD, not to much higher than that and it crashes, though AMD seems to let you have more volts for less degrees

Thanks for that I might try doing that any also see about removing the padded foam on the top and the side see if that changes things.
