Hi all,

Can anyone advise if what i want to do is possible.

At present i have an Antec Micro Fusion case with the system fans just directly powered with little switches for speed on each fan. However, I would like to connect the system fans to my mobo and have it control there speed based on system temperature.

I only have one connection on the mobo for sys fan. Its a 3 pin connector consisting of gnd +12v & sensor. The fans in the case are all stackable 4pin molex type connectors.

Could i buy one of these and plug them all into it and then into the motherboard and gain control from the bios settings?

Many thanks

Are you saying its not possible at all? I was thinking of buying new fans also but even with new fans would I still not be able to use the mobo connector?

Cheers

Sadly no, or not without some kind of USB fan controller or something, you said your board has a 3pin connector, the third wire is an rpm signal wire for reporting fan speed to the board only. Controlling the speed via the board requires a 4 pin connector with a 4th wire for control of the fan speed.

The images you posted, if when connected to the daisy chain of fan Molexes, would provide 12v and a ground to all the fans at all times, unless your motherboard header in question supports DC voltage control.

Some motherboards have all headers enabled for control, some have just one, some even just offer PWM control for one header.
