Hello,

I'm a little confused about the fans in my Cooler Master HAF-X case, do I plug them directly into the PSU with the pre-installed molex cables or into the motherboard (Crosshair IV Formula) via a different method?

Just to give you a better idea:

- All Corsair H70 fans correctly connected to the mobo
- Front / Side / Top fans connected into the PSU molex connections.

So how would I control these in software, or do I need a fan controller?

Sorry for my noobie question, thank you! :)

If you connect them to the PSU directly they will be on full blast, if you connect them to the MOBO headers then you can control them in BIOS.

Fan controllers generally use the 3 pin fan header we see on fans and are not compatible with Molex connectors. A molex connector will always provide 12v to the fan and run it at full whack, unless you mod the connector or it's supply of power.

If you wish to control anything by software you need to use the controllable headers on your motherboard, which may not even have the facility to control moer than just the cpu fan.

You could use a automatic fan controller that uses temperature probes and presets to control it's fans but they do cost more.

Okay thank you for your help guys, all done now. Just gotta blast that hole in my wall to get the network cable through. What 'ya think, stick of dynamite or a couple of C4 blocks?

Thanks and again, sorry for the noobie question. :p
