Fan Control - Antec *1200

If I bought the Scythe Kaze fan controller, would it work in an Antec 1200 gaming case?

I am not really sure how many extra fans to purchase... maybe 3?

3 fans

2 on hdd bays
1 on window

but then is it really woth the fan controller ? personally no, i just have 2 on the hdd bays, i have the window mod on my antec1200 so there is no window fan

have the same fan controller in my 1200, only have it controlling 2 Xigmatek fans on my H50 cooler... does it's job well.

So it goes into a slot where you could put your DVD drive?

Also, how many fans do you recommend I buy (I want my case to be quiett!!)

yes m8, i would put it in the top 5.25inch bay that way you could hide the cables ontop of the optical drive.

How many fans you need that is upto you, i have 2 of these set to around 900rpm on my H50 and the rest are set to low. Noise levels are near silent to me.

you can fit 2 fans on the hdd bays these are connected to the fan header on the mobo, you can have them on a fan controller obviously.

gave me the impression you dont really know what you want and by you not knowing you could mount fans on the hdd bay where was the plan to place the 3 additional fans ?

you also say you want your case to be quiet ?.. adding even 1 more fan is going to increase the noise from a stock 1200 so its sort of a daft option if you ask me, unless like Rensin you are going to place them on a Corsair H water cooler.

I wonder how the fans will be connected in the Antec 1200.

This is because the Stock Antec Tricool fans are molex powerered and not the 3pin fan connector?

well I would purchase 3 extra fans (hence fan controller)

what mobo are you using ? and how many free fan sockets does it have on it ?
personally i would only use a fan controller on my antec 1200 if i was to replace all 5 120mm fans that the case came with.
as ive mentioned above, you can mount 2 on the hdd bays, and use the fan sockets on the mobo ( providing you have 2 spare ) and if you have 3 space you can use the side window and have that as an exhaust and use that for the 3rd fan.
so to save money and wire routing i PERSONALLY would not use a fan controller for any additional fans.
but if i did replace the pre installed fans i would get a fan controller

I think I am going to refrain from buying a FC and just roll with the stock fans (and connect 2 to my mobo)

cool, glad you come to a decision
if you do mount the 2 fans on the hdd bays, can i suggest not using the fan adaptor thing ( that you moun the fan into then to your hdd bay ) use some good quality dble sided sticky foam.
for 2 reasons really
1. looks better if you mount another fan above or below the first as they will all me at the same level
2. that fan adaptor thing is not very good at sticking to the hdd bay, especially when it comes to cleaning the filters, it can come off and can be a right ball ache to secure again
