Just after a bit of info if possible.

Ive brought a new system and I want it set up good before I begin my first real overclocking attempts.

My temps seem a little bit weird and Im after advice before I begin.

My spec is :

Gigabyte 3D Aurora Case
CoolerMaster 1000W CPU
Gigabyte GA-EP45-Extreme Mobo
Q6600 CPU
8GB Corsair RAM
ATI 4870
1TB Samsung HDD

the fans are the standard intel CPU one and 3 case fans which come with the case along with the corsair RAM fans.

There is 2 at the back and one at the front. The front is powered by the normal IDE power supply. The ones at the back Im running from the PWR FAN from the mobo.

What sort of temps should I be aiming for and how can I control the speeds?

My temps are 58 ish system and a steady 38-42 CPU.

well if your using stock fan on the CPU 38-42 is pretty decent. You have to remember that the case temp can only be as cool as the ambient room temp.

should get 3-3.2 on the stock cooler depending on the CPU.. might have an issue with 8gig of RAM will more than certainly have to give the Northbridge a bit more umph

Cheers.

Will monitor these for a few hours...just seems strange that the sys temp is quite a bit higher.

the 2 exhaust fans are only running at 1000 rpm so I thought that could be the problem
