Fan Control !!!?

Providing the fan doesn't consume more watts than the fan controller channel allows, then yes.

I personally believe the Sunbeam Rheostat fan controller to be the best one out although the LED's are too bright.
 
Should say on the fans specification either on the fan itself or the manufacturers site.

Or if the fan only lists it's amps and volts, then amps x volts = power (in watts).

Pretty much all everyday PC fans will be fine though, only the likes of the Delta and equivalents will give problems.

The alarm temperature settings dont seem very good. Not frequent or high enough. 70 degrees for a cpu isn;t to bad. But i gues that is ambiant and the components would be hotter.

Make sure you dont place the probes near fans

rgr that 'DAVE' av got a tunic tower cooler so best putting the prob ontop ov the CPU which is under the heatsink?
 
Personally I don't like Thermaltake as the build quality isn't there, especially on these kind of items.

Seems like it's their own take on the Skythe Karma Meter.

You can get two different types of fan regulation, PWM which basically sends a 12v current to the fan in a pulse kind of action - this method can usually control fans to a slower RPM as a 12v feed is always being supplied but in short bursts. So it's having enough voltage to actually turn the blades without stalling.

Then you have rheostat which basically decreased the voltage to the fan at a constant, but after a certain voltage - the fan basically won't turn (dependant on fan).

PWM is supposedly better but some fan motors do make noises due to the pulses.
 
I tried to read that in the specification but it doesn't seem to say, I think it's PWM but don't quote me on that.

I was perving over that one my self :p But had to convince my self i dont need it because im never going to be changing the speeds of the fans. I mean, lets be honest. You set them at one speed and just leave it at that, can check the temps of things using programs. But they are still nice gadgets to aimlessly play with :) lol.

Um not sure. The closer it is the better the achual temperature youll get. But you gota make sure it doesn't get caught in the draft of the heat sink fan. Youll never know the true temperature unless you look at the achual core temperature on programs though.

Just have a fiddle about where to put the probes.

Hehe fair enough, if your not goint to change the speed after the first time the Zalman is overkill :p looks smart though, wont temp you with pics of it working lol ;)
