Hi guys I am building a new pc in a phanteks enthoo pro m midi tower I have bought 2phanteks pwm xp fans along with a phanteks pwm hub fan controller.
I am fitting an asus h170 pro gaming board . my ? is this should I use the fan hub to control all the case fans+cpu one or should I just use the fan controls in the bios on the mother board, I have never used a controler before except an old external type . any advise would be welcome .

I've got the Asus Maximus viii Extreme and I've got all my fans running through two phanteks hubs ... both hubs are pwm control via the CPU fan header and the OPT header on the mobo .. all works fine .. and I can control the fans from either the bios or the desktop using Asus Ai suite 3 .. Make sure to use the sata power for the hubs though ..

so if I connect the cpu fan into the hub and the other fans plugged into it along with the sata power will the motherboard via the cpu fan controller work the fans straight out of the box or do I have to go into the bios and set it up .

well mine has two options. You can set up your fans in bios or you can use the Ai suite to alter fans via your OS desktop. Very simple (it has to be for me). The fans are all PWM controlled (as long as the fans you bought are PWM fans), then you can have a nice quiet PC or you can ramp up the speeds however you like. You can alter the fan speed curve or set it to one of the stock configs .. very easy and controllable ...
