Hi there.
I am gathering parts to build a rig in an Antec 900 case and would like to control the fans from the outside and not have to muck about with the internal switches that the fans have,so any recomendations would be gratefully appreciated.

Just remember all the fans that come inbuilt into the 900 have molex connectors, not 3/4 pin motherboard plugs. So your gonna need some adaptors...

...I second the Zalman effort :)

I would relace all the fans in the antec anyway apart from the Big Boy fan. As above you might as well as your gonna need adapters anyway.

Thanks for the info guys,it looks like Akasa is in the frame at the moment.
I take it you can get the Molex adapters?.
Barionuk, did you find any thing dubious with the Antec fans or did you change them because of the connections?.

I aint to sure you can get the 4 pin molex to 3 pin fan header adapters. I don't think i've seen one.

I would reccomend changing all of the 120mm fans tho as they are actually quite load. I reccomend these as repalcements - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-001-FD&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=4

Very silent and also cables are braided.

+1 for the zalman 6 fan controller as they are ace and look amazing.
Also, you don't need any 3 pin extenshions as the fan controller is supplied with them.

Now that Scythe looks cool,i think a rethink is in order, with changing fans and all!
That is what i like about this forum,so much help and so many options.

Would there even be a temp difference in changing these fans? I have all my fans set on low anyway but they can be quite noisy on full.

I dont have an antec 900 case but have heard the fans do run quite loud and have heard of people changing them. I think you can probably get better aftermarket 120mm fans that are quieter and push / pull more air.

I have the 900 and the stock fans are more then capable. On the lowest setting they are not far off silent, while keeping my mobo nice and chilly. Not disputing there aren't better performing/quieter fans out there, but the Antec ones are perfectly acceptable.

Yes you can get adaptors, I bought three for about £1 each a year ago from a car boot sale (yes you can also get them from on-line retailers :) )
