Got a bit board and couldnt really find what i thought i was looking for in a fan controller, so i thought i'd build one :)
What i wanted...

  • 4 channels
  • 2 dials controlling 2 channels each
  • potential to modify min output on each channel i.e. 1v, 5v, 6v, 7v
  • potential to utilise thermal control too
  • Fit in 3 1/2 bay
  • No bright blue LED's
So far... Nabbed some info of the net, stuck a few orders in, Waited for the posty & come up with this

Prototype 1

1 Dial, 2 channels & fixed min voltage (5.16V)... Works a treat :D

the next revision will have adjustabe min voltage & on second thoughts maybe some LEDS ;)

I did this a few years ago for my GCSE project. The container looks appalling (my DIY skills have evolved since then :p) but it worked perfectly. :)

It's got 2 fan channels, each with an independent automatic thermistor circuit and a manual override (the knob on the front).

edit: like you, I've also gone completely off blue LEDs since then!

Yea i did have a room that never got dark... just glows blue constantly lol
Bluetack works nicely to block em out ;)
